Welcome! Our goal is to establish a safe zone where airtanker pilots, aerial firefighters, and other interested parties can share ideas and experiences related to aerial wildfire suppression. Outside-the-box thinking and appropriate humor is highly encouraged; garbage will be instantly jettisoned. So check in with your 10-20 and a SITREP.

Think positive.
Other than "Mo' money, honey." what do you think is the greatest single opportunity for increasing the effectiveness of aerial wildfire suppression?
Great idea Walt. Your are spot on here. There needs to be an open (free to challenge and "what if" new ideas) reasoned (seasoned with experience) and constructive (no bashing or flaming) dialog regarding the future of aerial firefighting. While my contributions will be meager I will follow with interest and continue to test the theories.
i'm sure we all agree that Initial Attack is the best strategy; to win with the S.E.E concept, fight when fires are small. The first hour is critical. The Tool Box is another winner; use complementary "tools": rotorwings+fixed wings. All sizes and capacities working together, coordinated by experienced people; from dispatch to air attack officers. Maintenance; no cutting corners, top notch maintenance progams are absolutely necessary. Crew; experience , discipline and training ...obviously a major key for success.
I'm sure it will be a wonderful beginning to tie relationships over the world between all of us.
ReplyDeleteAerial firefighting is a little world but streched to all the corners of our planet. It's good to have a place to gather. Thanks Walt.
Great idea Walt.

ReplyDeleteof course Jerome you're right but we can add also for the safety of the people, firemen, pilots, ground staff,...
of course Francis. I believe "discipline and training"(for ground crews or aviators...) are major factors contributing to Safety for all Ops.
ReplyDeleteHappy new Year!
